On My Desk

I thought perhaps showing you the state of my desk would be the best indicator of what is happening. I don't even know if my last few posts have even made sense, there is so much swirling around in my little space limited mind. I sound like such a whoose since there seem to be so many talented young ladies doing the market in a smooth no fuss manner.

On My Desk

So just to prove to you that I have been busy and there is a reason for my tardiness, Ta Dah (perhaps I shouldn't build it up too much) this is what is hot off my desk for the Mathilda's markets, on Sunday week. Hope you are in a comfy seat as I have gone piccy crazy today.

Here is my gaggle of pants, some old faithfuls and some new ones too.

Some more of these popular fish pants, I decided to get all artistic and take some photos in the sand - swish delish I know.

And continuing in my summer beachy theme I have boat trims with this gorgeous blue linen.

You can't beat a good pair of train pants for the fellas either, All Aboard I say.

And some airplane and rocket ship shorts to finish the boys off.And don't feel left out ladies I have this butterfly dress, bling and all. I really like how this one came out too.Hope it is all looking as good as I hope it is. Getting increasingly nervous as the days pass. More desky goodness at the ever lovely Kootoyoo. On My Desk - The Nana addition

In tribute to the Week O'Nan celebrations I have all my Nana treasures that are on my desk that remind me of her. I love the treasures that are practical too. The canisters were a set of 4 but one broke in transit, so sad and for some reason I just love this puss cat long stitch that sits on my window. I am going to get organised and get my Week Of Nana/Grandma players up on the sidebar hopefully tonight, so busy sewing!! More Desky goodness at the lovely Miss Kotoyoo's place.

In more Nana news, Caleb's Nana is coming today so off to the airport 1 very excited Caleb and Daddy with sign in tow - just in case she forgot what he looks like - Yeah Right!

On My Desk

As an ode to our desky fabulousness host Kooyotoo - it is a bit of red today. I had a hard lesson in karma last night, I have one order left and a few fiddly bits to finish up, but instead of knocking them over, the excitement of doing something new lured me off my path. My punishment was the rotary cutter kissing my finger and forgeting to pull up the thread holder thing on my overlocker till the grinding noise alerted me to the fact that something was not right. Tonight though I will not be distacted by this cute little bloomer set and I will get back to my jobs list, me and all my 9 fingers.

On My Desk

Today's desk is some sketching for some new designs that I am BUSTING to get into. I have 3 more orders to fill by early next week and then on to re-doing some old faithfuls and getting on to some new babies (clothes that is).

We also got Caleb into 4-year old kinder for next year, which we are super excited (and a little bit sad about) for next year 5 days a week, but I don't think we will send him for all of them. At the end of that he can always re-do the year if we want, but at least he is in the system. I so appreciated all your comments on something so close to my heart. You all rock! Just to show how big he is getting, he is already shaving with daddy!

I have also heard that people are having trouble reading me on Bloglines, and I have no idea why, any ideas - since you are all on a roll.

On My Desk - The Postman Rings Twice

Today's Desk is an ode to the postman/woman.

First came the parcel queen with my delightful Black Apple package, I actually squealed when I realised Sam was here. I also got myself the pencil case too.

Then our postie bought me more Japanese goodies. I so love the purple, I only got a fattie the first time but this is a whole gorgeous yard - Woo Hoo. The boy rock fabric even has a bit of bling too, and one of the coolest selvedges I have seen (Go Miss Ric Rac). I don't mind paying 5 cents extra for my stamps, I hope these fabulous people got a pay rise out of it!!

I also have some plain white that I picked up from Spottie, but that is part of a Sammy Secret Squirrel in another ode to the postie with this Mama. More on that soon.

Also is the list of kindergartens in our area (actually I forgot to squeeze it in the photo). I love being a Mum but I hate making decisions on my kids behalf. Caleb is 4 in the middle of December and suddenly his child care are wanting to know when he is off to school, and recommended taking him to Kinder (thanks for the notice)

Now should we keep him back a year and start him at 5 or 6?

Can we even find a Kinder to get him in regardless?

Will he cope academically and socially?

Why can't you actually talk to someone when you ring up the Kinders, I am now stuck waiting for people to ring me back?!

You get the moral quandary - Hate it!

On My Desk, A bit of Stash and a Flashback

On my desk this week is a finished pair of shorts for Caleb in the same material as the caterpillar pants, but I turned the pockets on their side. I so love the Sprout caterpillars, you can find them here. Poor Caleb needs a little summer. More desky love at Kootoyoo

I have been loving looking at everyone's stash goodies so far this week that of course originated over at Mike's (How much do we love them!). These little babies I got from EmilyMe, a Chinese lady that has short run hand printed fabrics. This Poppy fabric I think may be my favourite for this summer, I can so see it trimmed to a white dress - I know it's tacky but I love Poppy in some Poppies (At least we didn't call her Bindie I guess, that wouldn't be quite so cute of fabric. Ironic really Mum wanted to call me Cindy and Dad wanted Bindie, strange but true fact.) Back to the subject, I can't wait to team the cars with some purple for Caleb pants. I love purple on boys!

A flashback, Poppy had on today the very first thing I sewed for her after bringing my little machine out of hibernation. I combined a vintage pattern with some super cute Japanese deer fabric and white sleeve frills. I was so excited when I found those buttons that matched perfectly at Spotlight. This was about the start of my sewing obsession! Who knows where it will end? (This close up photo is one of my favourites, Caleb took it for me.)

On my desk this week, well it was before I took it outside in the sun to try and take a decent photo, is another custom dress using my favourite box pleat design with the same beautiful Park Slope fabric. I just love how this one looks, I am thinking I will make Poppy one but with orange highlights instead of pink. It is a bit like the plumber with the leaking tap though, and Poppy and Caleb are rapidly growing out of their clothes with no new threads in sight. Don't forget our fabulous desky host, Kootoyoo.

More exciting news though, I have decided to do Matilda's market at Malvern in November, perfect for the Christmas pressie shopping and there are some fabulous women rocking it too. I am so excited to be in their company so I am busy sketching bits and pieces and get sewing once I am finished with these last lot of orders. Yeah - I love it!

On My Desk

I am a day late again, but my poor bubba was super sick for the last few days. Well I guess he isn't really in bubba category any more, I can't believe he is going to be 4 in December. I am sure he got twice as sick as he needed to be on sheer defiance of not taking his medicine (another bonus of asperger's). At least he is finally eating and drinking today which is fantastic as I didn't want to take him to the hospital because nothing has passed his lips since Monday. He also hasn't stopped talking since he got up, so that is a sure sign he is feeling better.

Thank-you all again for your support with the opening of Bug and Pop! I have on my desk today, my orders that I am working through, including my first Etsy sale (Hooray for Hoppo Bumpo, a lovely lady with good taste of course) On my desk is my orders that I still working my way through (I can fake organisation in photos so well) and my beautiful new apron from Miss Curly Pops. On a side issue, Poppy is nearly 15 months and bored with all her toys, but at that in between stage for toys. I would love to know if you have any suggestions for good things for that age to play with!

On My Desk

Well what a week and it is only Wednesday. Thank-you all for your lovely comments from my last post, there I was declaring my computer bloggy love and he stood me up at the alter. How is that for appreciation?!? I tried to turn my computer on on Sunday and nothing apparently my motherboard was mothered. They fixed it yesterday arvo, all except for my internet - YEAH THANKS FOR THAT. I rang them for help and they told me to download more files - Hello NO INTERNET. At least it is all sorted now and only lost 2 days work, which is a bit of a bummer as a sub-contractor I don't get paid, my google readers in the 300's and I have some many photos of sewing that I need to compile it is not funny. I did though enjoy my days off, they are few and far between. I took Poppy shopping, did some sewing in daylight, had long walks and hot chocolates - I am threatening to quit now - it was great fun.

So what's that on my desk today, I hear you ask - orders, for me, for my clothes - WOO HOO!!!! At least this has helped my missed work. The party for my official Bug and Pop launch went really well and it was good to practice on friends, even if I felt like I was walking down the street naked. I even had my first referral party this morning, I was so nervous I couldn't even keep breakie down, and I have another 2 lined up. On My Desk

The big clean-up has been continuing, look at my beautiful stash. I am finally happy with it, thanks to PolkaDotRabbit for the idea to stack my babies like books - I so LOVE that idea.

Also here is my new (woot woo) desk that Hubby lovingly picked up for me for my sewing table. There is a slight mess on it already, what can I say - it is hard to change your spots. On my desk is my beloved Heather Ross material that I am making into a shirring style dress with matching pantaloons. You can also see my new Black Apple prints that I got recently from the Miette sale, I love her imagary. More "On my Desk" beauties over here.

This is the first shirring style top in a different Heather Ross material that I made yesterday for a friend so it is a little small on Poppy, but you get the idea. I even made a cute little matching clip.

On My Desk - A Day late A Dollar short

I have to apologise for my tardiness, I finally got here but minus the desk. My darling husband went to Ikea on our anniversary to buy me a new desk but I am still working on organising that one. I have been working hard on the last circle of hell that is under the stairs as seen last week. It is almost looking professional - You can see all the completed sewing now hung up in preparation for Etsy shop and clothes party (though lots more still to do) and all my little treasures in the boxes. I am not a clean person, but this actually makes me a bit excited. Thanks to kootoyoo for the desky brilliance and some motivation to get it all together. My fabric stash has also been getting some loving too, hopefully fit for photos next week too.This week on my desk though I do have a beautiful brooch from the lovely Curlypops - it is so cute and she is such a sweetie. You too can own one for yourself soon so stay tuned over there. Also MORE fabric from Kelani, a fab new online shop (there is even 20% off till the end of the month). Love it.

On My Desk

Well this week is not really my desk more the dark circle before hell. My storage, shown here,is under the stairs and I sew on the bum end of the dining table since I don't have a sewing space, though I am thinking of putting a tent in the yard for one of the kids so I can claim a beautiful space, I fear in the middle of Melbourne winter government departments may take issue. I am posting to shame myself into action to sort through it and try to make it as functional as possible. Yeah to Kootooyo for On My Desk.

I do have some pretties on my desk though from this fab Etsy store. I really love the Chloe's Imagination fabric, so beautiful and a bit of Park slope as well. There is a lily too from my Walk homework. The walk was a challenge today - it was cold and windy - I didn't want to do it. It was feeding time at our zoo and the natives were a bit restless - I didn't want to do it. BUT I did it, it appears I am onto the anger part of my new addiction moving up from denial yesterday. Ikea catalogue came too, great for addressing my storage issues.

I also discovered I have limits - who knew running. I was excited about the markets, but with only 3 weeks notice I do need some sleep 6am-2am everday takes it out of you so I had to leave it for a while. A bit bummed out.

I get to combine on my desk (a brilliant Kootoyo idea with more players too) and my love for the day all in one. Here is my latest fabric addition to the family and I LOVE this new Heather Ross Mendocino range. I also have a little Park Slope in there too. I think these are divine for summer, I have some cute smocking ideas for them and some cool boy pants. I got them from Crafters Vision and also expecting another parcel soon from my lovely postlady soon.
I also got an acceptance from the market I was hoping to do, but they have only given me 3.5 weeks notice so I am feeling a little under the pump. It is a new one at NewQuay, Docklands area - I would love to hear what you think.

This is pretty representative of my week, piles of paper and drawings to do with a child plonked in the middle eating my calculator. Also is a pattern I have been working on for Softies for Mirabel and my Black Apple sketch book where I have been working on all my fashion designs.

On my desk are some purchases from my beloved Etsy. There are some new extra cute trims from the fabulous Aunty Cookie, I love the new colorway choices. My first PippiJoe fabric, which has a great base cloth and the new teal Daisies colour is gorgeous. I see she has reprinted Orchard in the teal too, I think this might have to be the next addition to my family. Also there is the new name tags for my sewing venture from here. I get so excited when I got to sew the first one on something I made.
