What so you mean this isn't Sesame Street

We were all in the car for an outing and I had to open our automatic gates - "Open Sesame" I said. Caleb's little voice came from the back seat, very serious. "Mum you are not Big Bird, Poppy (his little sister) is not Oscar and I am not Ernie. This is not Sesame Street." Well it was true, but sometimes I think it would be nice to visit for a while. As discussed in the previous post this is the giggles of the literal mind.

Perspective is Over-rated

This is my beautiful 3.5 year-old boy Caleb. He looks just like most other boys and runs around like most other boys, but he is challenged daily by Asperger's Autism. This doesn't mean he is weird like the Boston Legal guy or Monk but he does see the world in a unique way that I am learning is quite special. He is only mildly affected and I don't want to belittle anyone else that has been touched by this, but I intend to share only the positive and funny things that it brings to our lives - every Thursday seemed as good a day as any. He doesn't understand that people are mean or sarcastic and takes every conversation as literal, while this can be a curse, I think it can also be a great beacon to be in life. I am finding this hard to write so that is the best explanation I have.

On My Desk

On my desk are some purchases from my beloved Etsy. There are some new extra cute trims from the fabulous Aunty Cookie, I love the new colorway choices. My first PippiJoe fabric, which has a great base cloth and the new teal Daisies colour is gorgeous. I see she has reprinted Orchard in the teal too, I think this might have to be the next addition to my family. Also there is the new name tags for my sewing venture from here. I get so excited when I got to sew the first one on something I made.

Little Red Riding Pop

This is the latest winter jacket sewn for Poppy with Little Red riding hood details and warm padding from the lovely ladies at Central Park Patchwork. The outer is lovely red flannel with vintage button. She looks like a big squishy cushion.

This is ...... My Release

Here is my beloved sewing machine whirring away with it's latest project.

I discovered that while I was being the best worker and Mum that I could be that I had forgotten to do anything for me. This is when I started sewing in the evenings and managed to tap in to the creative side that I had been neglecting for so long. It has filtered into all areas of my life and gives me some long missed fulfillment.

Is There Anyone Out There???

Hello,
I have been inspired by the very delightful and talented
Pip, whom I don’t’ know but on the other side of the computer monitor she seems wonderful. So here I am and who am I you may ask. Well I am a very busy mum of two gorgeous bunnies who keep me very busy.

To support the household, I am a draftsman (I know I should say person but I know I have ovaries so it is ok). The job pays the bills but creatively wise it is a bust. I started sewing my son some pants, using the skills past on from my beloved Nana, and haven’t seemed to stop.

I hope to share with you some inspiration, some ideas that I have been working on (I am hoping to fill my Etsy shop soon) and other good stuff. I am only new to the blogging/craft community but have found it so far to be great. Black apple and Little sprout have been sewing the seed (excuse the pun) on some great softies that I am working on, plus clothing for the little people. So there we have it, my first post. Hoping to see you for the next one.
