Is it a bird, is it a plane, no it's My Newest Idea

I have them you, ideas that is, well every now and again and I must say I really like this one. I REALLY want to ask you your amazing and valued opinion. It is a white cotton cape with the personalised first name initial that your child can paint themselves. I thought it would be good for the kids who aren't overly arty by nature and for birthday parties where they could all paint them together. I was thinking $10 if I just did a fabric pen outline of the intial for the kids to paint and $15 for the felt version that I have shown here. I was going to offer a discount if someone did order 8 or more for a party. I have just overlocked the edges and not folded them under - do you think that matters, I would have to add more to the price if I rolled the edges.
So please tell me, tell me do what your great minds think.

Well, in my humble opinion, I am ALWAYS trying to think of good craft ideas for parties, and this is great, what kid doesn't love wearing a cape and one they decorated themselves?? I think leave the edges be, kids don't care about that, especially for a dress up!

I like it - especially as it will be original and individual to each kid. What a brilliant idea...

What a fun idea!

I agree that oevrlocked edges would be fine. The wearers aren't going to be looking at seams!

overlocked edges are all you would see if these were mass produced and made in china - and for a kids dress-up, that's all they need.

I did a colouring project at our last 3 year old party and found that if there were some black shapes, a big border and some way of dividing up the work, it was easier for the kids to handle (and took them a bit longer before they said they had finished) You could maybe include some ideas that are age appropriate for parents to customise, and even include a fabric texta to do it with.

Really love the idea - good luck!

I agree that overlocked edges are fine and dandy. If you wanted to save on the cost even more you could even leave them plain and just let the kids paint them from scratch.

What a cool idea. I think overlocking would be fine. I also think your pricepoints look pretty reasonable. The idea of including a texta or something to make it into a "DIY" kit is also good idea...
You're onto something here I think!

Very Good idea! My nephew liked capes so much he used to get my Aussie flag and tie it around his neck! And at a job I had in a kitchen when it was someones birthday I got white disposable aprons and a black texta and wrote their name on the back so they would wear it all day to celebrate. We were big kids!

Great idea! I also think the overlocked edges are fine! I like that 'industrial' look and the kids will just be happy to have a personalised cape!

I think that is a great idea. Overlocked edges would be no problem. Good thinking:)
