Brown Owls last night and I was super excited to learn the art of the crochet. It was a super night and was so glad to get owling again. Apparently I have 2 left hooks, this took me a long time to grasp and I think it was no coincidence that Kirsty needed a wine at the end of the night. I have also had many failed knitting attempts too, so you know I have needle history here. Pip wrote out some great instructions so I couldn't blame that, I did try to blame my yarn and my hook, but I fear they were defenceless bystanders. I practiced like a demon when I got home and then at 2am this is what I had - a granny circle, but I finally got what I was doing. Tonight I found some time to have another go and look, it even has granny potential, so proud and I fear a little addicted. I LOVE Brown owls, so much crafty good stuff and good people - Perfect.

Wow great job! It sounds like you're having as much trouble with crochet as I had last year.
You first granny square looks great! Once it clicks, you'll be off like a rocket.
I love Brown Owls too. It's the wind in my sails!
Looks like a granny square to me (but I am no expert). Well done.
oh! you're on your way. When I went to Sydney Brown Owls, I literally put down my hook in frustration. I just couldn't catch on. Now, I blame my yarn.
I think you're going to be a granny master! amigurumi next up!
I'm in big trouble too. I decided granny squares could be the perfect quick crafty hit. So I started my first while hanging around waiting for the swimming lesson. I also ended up with a circle, went for another round and voila! the Granny Doily. Reckon they'd catch on?
too cute Cindy, I love it. I am having a craft meet sson (end of April - my fitst one ever) and I am going to learn crochet too, looks so fun!
I tried to learn how to crochet about a month ago. It did not work well. Mum tried to teach me because she has been doing it for years but I think I am more of a knitting person. It just feels wierd only having one little hook when I am used to two needles.
SOOOOOOO good! Okay... a little wonky, but you should have seen my first attempt. It looked like a crocheted chicken nugget - only uglier. Yours is perfectly GORGEOUS next to my first go! Good on you love!
You look like you were having as much trouble as I was! I had a lightbulb moment after I got home and carefully read Pip's instruction. Now I am the proud owner of two slightly lumpy and not quite square granny squares. I still can't hold the yarn to save my life though!
It looks lovely to me. My first attempt was a granny rectangle ... as in it was a wreck and a tangle!
We need to catch up for a cup of tea and crochet!
Super job Cindy! You've done a super job.
hmm this is on my list of things to do. I have romantic visions of making granny squares sitting on the lounge in front of the telly this winter, but I think I am in for some blood, sweat and tears before then.
What cute yarn by the way!
