Thank you and No they didn't charge the Scum

First off I really just want to thank everyone that made such lovely and supporting comments, I really do appreciate them, especially when we all are in a little state of shock . Thanks also to those that linked back to the post to create awareness of how careful we have to be unfortunately. I think as hard as it was for me to post it was worth it.
On the most asked question, did the guy get charged? - No he didn't as the police said he hadn't done enough to be considered a kidnapping - I shudder to think what extremes that would of required. Apparently because the man was having a seizure, and it was pretty ugly, that his story of taking Poppy away from it was possible, even though how far he was taking her, the fact he wasn't listening to Glen calling out and even the way he was holding on to Poppy wasn't. The female cop was all over him so I think they were going to take his details, I am telling myself that they followed it up. Once Glen heard that they weren't going to charge the guy and didn't need his statement he just wanted to get Poppy as far away as possible.
Poppy thankfully seems to be completely oblivous to the whole thing, such a relief

That is horrible that they didn't charge him. I hate to think what he would have to do before getting charge. We just have to hope and pray that he doesn't get a chance to do this to anyone elses children.

Oh no! This is my biggest nightmare and I don't even have kids! The cops are being lazy. Follow it up if you feel up to it. This guy needs to be taken off the streets or he is at risk of taking another little child when the opportunity rises.

I am so glad Poppy is OK and that you guys are OK and that Glen popped him one!

An e-mail to "A Current Affair", "Today Tonight" or the "Herald Sun" about how the police didn't charge the man might do the trick? I'm sure they'd be very happy to try and get the CCTV footage and show his face to everyone.

That is absolutely insane! What on earth are the VIC Police doing? HE should have been charged, taken in for questioning, a warrent issued and his home/workplace and PC searched. This makes me so worked up. I think that someone should contact a journo at The Age...

I agree with the other comments here. Him not being charged for an obvious abduction attempt is just not acceptable. There is no reason your dd should have been taken anywhere by anyone, it's just not on. I think contacting a tv station might just get the action this horrible incident requires. This man needs to be stopped before something happens to another innocent child.

I shudder to think that he is still out there..... waiting for another opportunity to try again. God help the next poor child.....

I'm with Liesl and everyone else. Sharing this with us was so important and if Glen could say a few words to them it might help other people.

The guy is a scum bag and deserves to be locked up and if not that, then at least ostracised by the community.

Those sorts of people absolutely astound me - I can never understand how people can think of doing things to others that they wouldn't want to happen to themselves. It's such a strange, strange world.

Anyway, I just read your last post and wanted to say I'm glad your little one is okay :)

I can well understand you wanting as much distance as possible from the whole ordeal. I am APPALLED that this one apparently falls through the cracks. Until now, I had never considered a dodgy 7pm current affairs program might actually have a valid reason to exist.

I'd go to The Herald-Sun rather than The Age. As the police didn;t charge him I'm even more pleased now that Glen hit him. I hope he left him with a broken nose!

OMG..I am so happy Poppy is safe, and livid that guy got away with it. PLEASE follow up and contact the media. The police are supposed to be PROTECTING from that slime, rather than excusing him. I feel sick. :(
