My Creative Space

All this weeks creating has been about "the birthday jacket". Poor Glen, all week at about 9pm I am hounding him, so you going to bed yet so I can get it out of hiding working like a women possessed. I got the outside and the lining finished, just not together, but I wanted to check the sleeve length and stuff so it worked out quite well. The kids picked him out a matching hat for their present and I think he is looking pretty dapper.
I think though his favourite thing was the card, that for the first time ever Caleb wrote his name on, huge for a boy that wont try unless it is perfect. I feel like he is going through a real developmental stage of learning at the moment and I am just trying to keep up. The last 2 nights, for the first time ever he stayed dry and told me he didn't need his night nappy anymore (Caleb that is, not Glen, he isn't that old yet). So proud of my little man. I had to go to his potential primary school's open day yesterday and as soon as she said we have 550 students and we hope great things for them I started tearing up (so not something I would normally do) so I have 7 months to toughen up because I think he is going to go gang busters there.

More creative goodness at the home of the granny square evolution Kirsty's.

Cindy, the jacket is looking faboulous and Glen is totally looking dapper. Make sure you don't let him go out alone dressed like that or you will have to make him a shirt that says "Sorry, I'm married" :).

Calebs card is beautiful and it is wonderful that he has taken a learning leap, if you will. You should be proud, you should be allowed to tear up when ever you like and you should be giving your self a pat on the back for being such a good mother!

That jacket looks great! Wow, I'm very impressed with it.
It's always amazing when little "babies" have moments of growing up, bittersweet.

The card is so cute Cindy! I know all about that 'won't try unless it's perfect' problem - my eldest has torn up/ thrown out/ had a tanty over many a piece of creative output, he just will not accept 'mistakes'.

You must be quite proud of yourself with the jacket. Oh and the name-writing, that makes my heart melt. One day my boys will be there too... hard to imagine.

wow, Cindy, that coat is just amazing, looks so good!! Glen looks so hunky, oh my!

The growing up is tricky huh, you want it so bad then when it happens you just want things to slow down. Motherhood is so tricky.

Caleb is just a star.

Very Swarve...is that even a word!
Nice coat and the hat is a great pick!

I take my hat off to you - and Glen should do the same with his. That is one supreme achievement - as is dropping a kidlet off for his first day at school and not having a 'mummy moment'!

Very very nice. It's so much fun to make cool things!

My little guy is doing lots of pre-writing. Oh it is so beautiful and precious. I get teary thinking of how he is on the cusp - in only a matter of months he will have moved on to recognizable writing and then this stage will be over. Ah... sigh.....

Clearly well and truly behind on my blog reading. SORRY!

Happy Birthday Glennie!

Cindy - well done on the jacket, it looks fantastic, and the hat works perfectly with it. Well done! I bet you're going to get a few orders from Glen strutting his stuff in this. I am so impressed.

And continuing on from being impressed with you, Caleb's writing is FAB! Well done Caleb, go you good thing!

How exciting that next year he's off to big school. Though I'd be like you. Half excited, half sad. All will be faaaaaaaaaaab! xxx

Great to see ambitious creative spaces-great job. This is one post I am not about to show my hubby. I have little enough time to make my own clothes so I can't have him thinking I will be making some for him. I want him to be satisfied if I make him pj pants.
