My Creative Space

Creative Space 0403 007

The wool from last week is all cut out and just in time as the Melbourne weather is doing it’s erratic change of seasons thing. It is another Japanese pattern from the same craft book as the shirt from the other day.

There has also been playing around with the blocks for Poppy’s quilt. It is going to be 3 x4 different squares and there was this ‘great’ idea to do button features on 3 of them, but after talking to the ladies at Perle’s they were thinking the weight may be a little uncomfortable and would have ninja weapon like properties. What do you reckon, Andi suggested perhaps wall art? (Perle 8’s meets every Thursday night at Bentleigh if you are in the area and want to come along, new faces are always welcome).

More creative spaces at Kirsty’s house, the best ho   st around who is even making cushions to make sure we are all comfy when we visit.

PS. The post number is near a round number so I think a giveaway will be in order tomorrow.

I think the weight might be a problem and cause too much stretch on the fabric eventually causing it to give. Still, I think there's many good uses for such fine button designs. I like Andy's wall art idea or a decorative cushion or maybe even a small little pocket back that ties off the side of the bed to hold Poppy's little treasures at night while she sleeps!

I like both the wall art & the cushion idea.

It's looking lovely Cind.

I think the love heart button feature is beautiful but it may be a little heavy on a quilt.

Cushion could work!

Oh I giggled at the thought of a quilt-wielding ninja! Wall art would work but then you wouldn't see your girl all curled up in her quilt like you see your boy.

I think the wall art or cushion idea are both goers. It's looking great Cindy

not sure about the weight issue - but the button heart and babushka are pretty darn cute - they have to stay I think

I think it would be divine as wall art. As a cushion or on the quilt I think you couldn't really rest on either comfortably (bit bumpy maybe?). As display pieces on both though - just fabulous! It's really beautiful work... if you want to have it on the quilt maybe at the bottom where it won't accidently do a ninja ;) K

I love the wall art idea - maybe a series of 3 in a row?

I love the colors in poppy's quilt. And I can't wait to see how the coats turn out.

The button designs look great but I agree they are probably too heavy for a quilt.

I think either cushions (or do they still have the same ninja weapon properties?) or wall art.

I like the ideas for cushions...

Thanks so much for all your nice comments on the wedding. :) Glad you enjoyed it.

My name change kinda made up it's own mind in the end... At the last minute I decided to have two last names, mine then his, two words, no hyphen. I wanted to only ever use one, but officially have both to give me the option. BUT I had to fill in the forms on the morning of the wedding, and completely stuffed it up. Apparently I even had the wrong form... SO the answer to your question is nothing! I'm still the same. I may reconsider again when we have kids.

Hey, I found the perfect book for you:

Actually "1/2 yard wonders" would be better!

looks like the coat might need to be worn this weekend. It's pouring here. Perle 8's sounds brilliant, wish I could come. X

The colours in this quilt are just like the one my mum made for me when I was little! Mine was in seersucker. Can you imagine a fabric shop carrying a whole range of orange and magenta seersucker? They knew how to live in the 70s ;)
