First Autumn shirt

Purple shirt 002

The autumn weather is fast approaching so I thought I had better start clothing these sprouting children. I used a pattern from a book I got from Pomadour. It is quite a small fit, as most of the Japanese ones are but I really love it and it only took about 3 hours, a great staple of winter. I got the purple-grey fabric from the Amitie sale last week, 50% off – yippee.

You may not know this about me, but I am a fabric tight-ass. I managed to squeeze this shirt out of half a meter of material as opposed to the 1m recommended. The sleeves couldn’t make it out in one length so I had to add a cuff. I don’t think there was a thread of fabric left!

I also got some seriously cute tights and socks from here too, great services and really quick delivery.

Cindy, that shirt is very lovely. And I can relate to the fabric-tightass-tendencies. They can be found here too. You should see me puzzle on a little scrap sometimes :-D

Adorable. 100%+ adorable. Great top too :) Love that you saved on the fabric... perhaps you could make a tute showing us some tricks of scrimping.

Cindy, that shirt is gorgeous - I just love the lace detail you have used as well. If that is an example of your Autumn work -bring it on I say

Lovely top, she looks very sweet in it.
Lovely to meet you on friday. I think I should have gone with more of a plan. It's so overwhelming & very hard to choose.
Have a happy week.

hehehehe, I'm a fabric tight-arse too!

I love this little top SOOOO much. I would wear it myself... although I'd probably need the whole meter of fabric for that ;)

Alright...I have made things three times now, using my Japanese patterns. They have ALL turned out incredibly wide and short. I know they aren't being traced wrong, cause I have gone back over them and back over them again to make sure I have it all right, and they are STILL all funky! How the HECK do you guys make them work??
